Come join Renée and her team to explore your heart and imagination openly in a safe and caring environment, all while creating art, memories and friendships.
October 3rd to 6th, 2019
From Thursday @7pm to Sunday @2pm
We are finally in our dream home and I am inviting you all to come share Mountain View Farm in Luskeville, Quebec. We are located in the countryside just a half hour from Ottawa and over two hours from Montreal. The original house has tons of character as it was built in the 1920s and we are tucked under the Eardley Escarpment which provides us with a beautiful view. We are also minutes away from walking trails in the Gatineau Park and we are lucky enough to have a horse ranch across the street so frequently see horses riding by.
We also have a hot tub should you need a soak at the end of the day and the studio has tons of windows to provide us with lots of light and gorgeous views!
Serene and peaceful shared accommodations are provided. Loaded with country charm, there will be an area in the house for relaxing or reading apart from the studio. Please be prepared to bunk in with someone. There are also spots available without accommodations if you live close or would like to stay off campus. Whether you are on or off campus, all meals, snacks and beverages are included with tuition, from snacks on Thursday to brunch on Sunday and all of the goodies in between. Our hunky Italian cook, Angelo will be on hand all weekend to serve us up some delicious vegetarian, healthy and nutritious gourmet concoctions (some come for the food alone, he is that good or maybe that hunky).
The closest airport is in Ottawa and pick-up can be arranged. Please advise when registering that you will be requiring airport pick-up. We will require flight information (once you have it) to try and coordinate pick-up of other guests. Car pooling will also likely be available depending where you live. Please advise of your interest when registering.
Typical Canadian weather can be unpredictable but layers, a warm jacket and good shoes for walks are always a good idea. If you are planning to take a dip in the outdoor hot tub, don’t forget your bathing suit, beach towel and a robe!
Details for the East Retreat
A schedule/outline will be sent when you register, but what you can expect at the East retreat are:
We will be opening up the retreat with a smudging and a burning ceremony. This will be facilitated by Natalie Fraser, a unique healer, teacher and yoga instructor who draws from many traditions and practices. She will also join us on Sunday morning to lead a yoga class overlooking the mountain or a meditation session if it is too cold.
You will also get a chance to have a relaxing massage at some point over the weekend by registered massage therapist, the lovely Stephanie Raiche.
Most of the art projects will be led by artist and hostess Renée Savoie. For this retreat we will be creating an art journal inspired by nature. We will have a stroll around the property to get some inspiration and do some soul searching. We will then head back to the studio to do some journaling, doodling and playing around with different mediums.
Loom Making and Weaving Class
Weaving is one of those centuries old traditions that is both practical (in certain forms) and beautiful and can be sort of soothing to the soul. Wall hangings are a great way to introduce yourself to weaving and add instant charm to your space. We will be making a loom from stuff you potentially have at home and then use it to create your own custom wall hanging.
Shrinking the Past
Mary Heinrich Aloi is joining us from Vermont to teach a fun class involving reproducing antique photos of people and creating art with shrinking plastic! You will learn the technique of copying, coloring and then shrinking old portraits for your own personnel art. We will then explore the numerous ways it can used in mixed media.
The cost for all of this awesomeness is a mere $500.00 and includes accommodations, meals, all art supplies and goodies along the way. The off-campus spots are $430.00 and include everything but accommodations. All you have to do is show up with some comfy clothes and an open mind/heart. A deposit of $250 must be made with registration and the balance of tuition must be paid by September 19, 2019.
Please send an e-mail to firstname.lastname@example.org to request a registration form. To pay, you can do so via e-transfer or Paypal below (You do not need an account to pay with your credit card).
We are truly excited and committed to providing you with inspirational discussions, love, laughter and new friendships. Come join us, it’s time to reconnect with yourself and we can’t wait to meet you!!!
